Can you believe it’s already been 3 months since Miles was born? I sure can’t. The time has been flying and Marc and I have been loving every minute of it and soaking in all of the newborn sweetness while we still can. It has been really fun to watch Miles grow and develop over these last few months- everyday he becomes more aware and bits of his sweet and very silly personality shine through. He makes us laugh daily and that big toothless grin of his melts my heart every time he smiles. I’m really enjoying the stage that we’re in right now and Miles is finally at the point where we can “play”, he loves this mirrored tambourine, and hanging out on his colorful play gym. He loves, loves, loves to be outside (and so do we!) so we’ve been enjoying our dinners outside where he loves to sit in this Baby Bjorn bouncer and looking around at all of the palm trees and lights.
We’ve been trying to keep his “stuff” down to just the necessities so here’s a peak at the baby gear we’ve been using and loving these past 3 months.
We’ve really just been using the basics- KicKee Pants jammies (They’re our favorite and so incredibly soft) and the Halo sleep sack has been great and makes swaddling easy and just in the past two weeks we’ve been transition Miles to the Merlin Magic Sleep Suit and so far he has been doing really well in it. For naps I swaddle him in the Aden + Anais muslin swaddles which are so lightweight and silky soft. They’re really great for just about everything and always keep an extra one in my diaper bag. Miles is still sleeping in our room and I know I need to transition him to his crib soon but I think I’ll miss him too much! We’ve had a great experience with Owlet which you can read here.
Miles loves to play, he is pretty easily entertained. He enjoys being read to and loves music (even my horrible singing voice makes him smile). We got an Amazon Echo Dot for his nursery and I can’t say enough good things about it. I’m a little rusty when it comes to nursery rhymes but Alexa knows them all and I can easily sing along with the songs that play. It’s also been great for white noise!! We also connected it with the Philips Hue lights so we can have Alexa turn the lights in the nursery on and off as well as dim them- amazing for middle of the night feedings and changes…nobody wants a bright light shining in their eyes at 4 am!
Again, we really stuck with the basics here and I love absolutely everything we have. We picked out the Bumbleride Indie stroller and it’s amazing. It is such a smooth ride and is perfect for walking around town, taking to the beach and to use while working out AND it folds up so easily. I can’t say enough good things about this stroller! We’re currently using the car seat attachment with the Maxi Cosi carseat which has worked really great for us. We also got this Cosatto stroller, it’s a great compact size and is suitable for newborns and up so you don’t need to pop in the carseat. We recently took it with us to San Diego and it was AWESOME to travel with! Outside of the stroller we use the Solly Wrap on a daily basis. I wear Miles when we go to the grocery store, for walks on the beach and around then house when he wants to be held and I need to get stuff done. We also have the Moby Wrap but I have found that one to be a little to thick for Hawaii, but we did use it in San Diego last month and it was great in the cooler temp. When it comes to diaper bags I’ve been switching off between this lightweight bag from Happ and a Tory Burch Baby Bag which is a little smaller than the Happ bag and great for day to day use.
Bath & Diaper:
This has been an area of trial and error for us. We have tried just about every diaper brand out there and have had a hard time finding one that worked for us and didn’t end up with a huge mess. (I have become a stain removing pro and swear by Dreft Stain Remover!) We have had the best luck with the Target brand diapers surprising and thankfully we live just around the corner from a Target! We have tried a few different brands of baby wipes and Babyganics Wipes are hands down my favorite. Some brands kind of fall apart and leave little white fluffs on baby’s bum but the Babyganics wipes are really strong and seem to be thicker than most which I really like. The Babyganics shampoo/body wash works really well for us when it comes to bath time and it’s gentle enough not to dry out Miles’s skin or leave any sort of rash. And of course, there is almost nothing cuter than a freshly bathed baby in a hooded towel!
After a lot of thought Marc and I decided that I will not be going back to work and instead will stay home with Miles. I’m really grateful and excited that my job is now raising our sweet baby (and writing Sequins at Breakfast!) It has already become the most fulfilling and challenging roll but it is truly the best and I am so grateful to be his mama!
