When I found out that I was pregnant back in May, it didn’t take long before I started dreaming up ideas and themes for baby M’s nursery. Knowing that I wanted to stay away from anything too “baby” I envisioned the decor to be something that our baby could grow with and would seamlessly transition to a toddler room and then a big-kid room. Right off the bat I was struggling with coming up with a theme for a girl’s nursery but I loved the idea of a Vintage Americana meets Ralph Lauren theme for a boy’s nursery…I’ll chalk it up to mothers intuition, so when we found out that baby M was indeed a boy I was excited to finally start planning and decorating!
I mentioned a few weeks ago that we’re converting our guest room to the nursery but keeping the full sized bed in the room for when our families come to visit. This past weekend a little bit of nesting kicked in and I cleaned out the entire room and Marc helped me re-arrange the furniture to make room for the crib and rocking chair. We’ve decided to go with a simple Jenny Lind crib in white and a winged back rocking chair in a really clean linen color which will match the headboard on the bed, tying in our existing pieces with the new theme of the room. I found a variety of really cool vintage American flags; one with 13 stars, one with 48 stars and one with 50 stars, that I plan on framing and hanging above the bed and one large one above the crib. I also found a great mini vintage Hawaii flag and mini vintage California flag (Marc and I are both born in California and baby M will be born in Hawaii- I still think this is so crazy!) that I’ll be displaying somewhere in the nursery as well.
I can’t wait to share the final product with you and I’m just hoping I can get the room finished before our little guy arrives…only 13 more weeks!!
