Oh my goodness, where has the time gone?! I can not believe that my little baby boy is already 9 months! The past few months have gone by so quickly and have been so. much. fun. Miles has so much personality and is such a happy-go-lucky little guy. He is non-stop from the moment he wakes up to the moment he goes down for a nap which is both exciting and exhausting (for me!) but I love seeing him explore and learn. He crawls all around the house and pulls up on everything so to say we’ve had to do a little re-decorating is an understatement! Long gone are the days of a styled coffee table!!
Miles is such a mama’s boy and wants to be near me or able to see me at all times which I secretly love and I’m definitely soaking it in while I can! He recently starting giving kisses and they are the absolute sweetest thing in the world. They’re big and slobbery and so fabulous I can’t help but ask for them over and over again! Just this week Miles cut his first tooth (bottom left) and on top of that he said his first word and it was MAMA!
Up until last week, the sleep situation had been a little rough. I can count on two solid naps from Miles during the day but the nights have been somewhat of a rollercoaster. We did a bit of traveling this summer and fall which really threw him for a loop. He doesn’t sleep well in a Pack n Play so that combined with the time change and jet lag made for a string of really bad nights. On top of that, when we returned from our travels Miles started rolling over while sleeping and standing up in the crib. We went cold turkey from the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit (which we absolutely LOVED) into pajamas which were a big difference for Miles. It took about 7 days for Miles to get comfortable sleeping in pj’s (and found that he loves to sleep on his tummy) and we’re now at the point where we can put him down and he will fall asleep without trying to stand up or crawl around. But…we’re now back on track and Miles is sleeping through the night again!
Miles loves to play and is really great at playing by himself as well as playing with the dog. He and Penelope play tug almost every day and he giggles the entire time. It’s too cute! Miles got a walker and he loves zooming all around the house and chases us from room to room! Just last week we started swim lessons which have been really fun. He loves the water so he thinks that those 30 minutes of kicking around and blowing bubbles are the absolute best. We go to a Mommy and Me workout in the mornings and Miles really enjoys getting out of the stroller after the workout and crawling around with the other babies…and playing in the dirt, of course!
This little guy can eat! I am still nursing Miles (about 4 times a day) and on top of that, he has a combination of finger foods and purees at mealtime. We started with finger foods around 7 months and for the first month or so pretty much everything ended up on the floor but he’s is getting better and better and picking up small pieces of food and getting them into his mouth! His current favorites are broccoli, chicken, sweet potatoes, peas, pasta, puffed rice and puffed millet, peanut butter toast and hummus toast. We usually give him finger food to eat while we eat dinner then give him puree if he is still hungry. It’s been working out great and we’re hoping to transition into finger foods exclusively in the next months.
Miles you are the sweetest, happiest little boy and I absolutely LOVE watching you grow.
