One of our favorite things to do with Miles is read. He loves looking at the pictures and even helps turn the pages (and occasionally tries to eat them)…it’s so cute! Since Miles doesn’t really understand what we’re reading, we tend to pick the books that we like the best. I love stories that rhyme so I tend to go for books like The Snail and the Whale and Marc has pretty much perfected his animal sounds so he enjoys reading stories like Moo Baa La La La to Miles. Reading has become a big part of our day as well as a staple in our bedtime routine which means we go through a lot of books in a day. I think it’s safe to say we have developed quite the at home library! Here are some of our favorites…
Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site: A really fun story about construction trucks getting ready for bed, the perfect bedtime story.
I Stink: Another good truck book…I find this one to be pretty hilarious and Miles thinks so too!
Moo Baa La La La– One of Marc’s go to’s…Miles always smiles when he hears his dad make each animal noise!
Piggie Pie: I got this book at one of my baby showers and initially thought it would be a good book to read Miles when he got bigger…but after reading through it I realized it’s great for all ages. It’s mixed in with a little Old MacDonald, it’s so fun to read and and it’s fun to spot the hiding pigs!
The Snail and the Whale: A really fun rhyming story about a snail who takes a ride around the world on the tale of a whale.
Room on the Broom: I got this after reading The Snail and the Whale and love the sing-song story about a Which who keeps picking up passengers on broom until it eventually snaps in half.
If Animals Kissed Goodnight: An all time favorite…such a cute story about animals kissing their moms and dads goodnight.
Little Blue Truck: I love the message behind this story, it’s about a friendly truck and his animal friends who help a not so friendly dump truck out of a muddy situation. We read it often and I hope that when Miles is a little older he picks up on the friendly message.
Pout Pout Fish: A family favorite! I think we read this story the most, it has the sweetest ending!!
Giraffes Can’t Dance: Another story with an amazing message about individuality plus the illustrations of the animals doing the tango are pretty darn cute!
We’re always looking for new books to read so if you have any favorites, I’d love to hear!
