Becoming a mom has been the most amazing experience and I feel like I’m now starting to get the hang of it. Miles is coming up on 6 months (how?! Time is going way too fast!) and I feel so fortunate that I’ve been able to be with him day in and day out to watch him grow and develop the cutest little personality. Over the past six months I’ve learned so much about motherhood and while I’ll admit that some thing’s take a while to learn, there is a lot of trial and error, I feel really lucky that nursing came really easily to both Miles and me. I remember being so nervous in the weeks leading up to his arrival, nervous that my milk supply wasn’t going to come in, that Miles wouldn’t latch or that it would be too painful; I was really planning for the worst. But, to my surprise, when they placed Miles on my tummy for the first time and we tried for our first feeding, both he and my body knew exactly what to do. I was so relieved.
Fast forward a few days into being a Mom and my fears of not having enough milk were long forgotten…I actually had the very opposite “problem”, I had an oversupply. My breasts were engorged, I was leaking constantly and feeding Miles became painful. The very basic, thin, no bells and whistles whatsoever nursing bra that I randomly found online was not going to cut it. I would feed Miles on one side and leak almost 5 ounces of milk out of the opposite side…it wasn’t pretty and it was messy, so messy that I didn’t feel comfortable feeding Miles outside of my home. My bra wasn’t the easiest to maneuver and was seriously lacking in the support department. It was in those early days of nursing that I realized the importance of a good nursing bra. Since then I’ve tried a few different bras, some better than others, but had yet to find “the one”. And you guys, my list of nursing bra must-have’s wasn’t even that long! I wanted something supportive, with a little bit of padding, a clean look and maybe, just maybe some feminine little detail…was I asking for too much?!
Enter the new nursing bra collection from ThirdLove, it’s like they read my mind when they were designing their new line of nursing bras. First of all, they’re gorgeous- they have the sweetest little detail on the straps, just the feminine detail that I was looking for, and are incredibly comfortable. ThirdLove offers two styles, The 24/7 Classic Nursing Bra (with wire) or The 24/7 Classic Wireless Nursing Bra. They both have a front closure which means the bra is oh-so easy to take on and off and it’s completely smooth across the back giving you a cleaner look. I’ve been wearing the 24/7 Classic Wireless Nursing Bra for about a week now and I’m hooked! It actually looks and feels like a regular bra. It’s the softest nursing bra that I’ve tried, it’s comfortable enough to sleep in, and the drop down cups are so easy to use which makes feeding Miles both at home and in public much more comfortable! It took a couple months for my body to regulate my milk supply but I’m happy to say breastfeeding has become so much easier and has actually become something that I enjoy- it’s given Miles and I such an incredible bond and I’ll cherish our moments together, even those moments in the middle of the night, forever.
Another reason I’m so smitten with the new nursing bra collection from ThirdLove is that the Head of Design is actually a mom, too. A bra designed for moms, by moms…you can count me in!
